Proud to be an Infidel

It's a few days after 9/11 and I got to thinking about what kind of people (and I use that term loosely) would kill innocent people. (Okay, they were evil sociopathic religious nutcases worshiping an evil god. There, I said it.) Then I thought about why I liked America, despite its many flaws. And it boils down to freedom.
So here's my 13 reasons I'm proud to be an American Infidel.
1. We can choose what religion to believe without the government telling us.
2. Or not have a religion. And that's okay.

Just Some Random Thoughts

I ran over a opossum a couple nights ago as it was crossing the highway. The whole thing went down like this:
- I see the opossum.
- My brain kicks in and I think "Oh, it's a opossum."
- BuBumb.
A few months ago I ran over a rabbit. But those have been my only two kills of mammals.

13 Cassette Tapes I own

I recently went through yet another box, and this one turned out to be Cassette Tapes.
You know, cassettes. They came after 8-Tracts (sp?) and before CDs.
So I'm going to reach in and pull out 13 of them and tell you what they are! Feel free to leave a comment if you smiled at any of them. Or cringed. Or hated them all, or even had no idea who any of the artist's are!
- Amy Grant's Heart in Motion. You know this one, where she turned to pop music. Come on, admit it, you know "Baby Baby"! continue reading this entry»

13 Names Of Pets I've Had

Names of Pets I've had over the years. (Cats unless otherwise specified.)
- Jazz, my calico, and her three kittens:
- Cutie
- Sweetie and
- Minika, who died shortly after birth. (Named Minika, since my mom called Jazz "Ika" (eeka), and that kitten looked a lot like Jazz.
- Tiger
- Shadow, the black cat.
- Garfield, who we only had for a short time.
- Fluffy (My mom's cat)
- Runny (also my moms, named because he ran a lot, not, well, you know...) continue reading this entry»

Fast Foodities

-
Wendy's has a new Crispy Chicken Sandwhich. From what I've had, I'd say it's definately not crispy.
Not sure of the chicken part either.
- My favorite hambuger ever was at Blake's Lotta Burger in Pojoaque, New Mexico. I ate there 15 years ago and I'm still talking about it.

- I hate pickles. No, I abhor pickles. Like nature abhors a vacuum, I abhor pickles.
- A couple days ago I had a couple Jack-In-The-Box tacos. Worst. Tacos. Ever. continue reading this entry»

13 books in a box
Along a wall I have stacks of boxes. Each box contains bit of my past. Most of it I really should get rid of. Anyway, I opened one box today and found some books. I actually happened to find 13 books. Some of these books were from college; some I even read.

- Hole in the Sky by William Kittredge. Read this for my college class "The New West."
- The World's Relgions by Huston Smith. A classic in the study of religions.
- The Tattooed Lady in the Garden by Pattiann Rogers. Poetry collection. Didn't understand most of it back when I first read it.
- O'Connor Collected Works (Flannery O'Connor. A Library of America Collection (the black dustjacket with the red, white a blue stripe).
- The Best Loved Poems of the American People. (The only publication date is 1936.)
- Mostly Harmless by Douglass Adams. (yes, one of these books is not like the others....)

- A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.
- The Norton Anthology of English Literature (5th Edition).
- The Book of Mormon. (With a Washington State Lottery Card bookmark.... hmmmm...)
- All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy (book was better than the movie).
- The Crossing, Cormac McCarthy (yeah, I like McCarthy's work).
- Writing Research Papers: A Complete Guide by James D. Lester.
- Usagi Yojimbo Book One, Stan Sakai. (About a Samuri Rabbit. This one wasn't required reading in college... for some strange reason....)

Places to Move To
I have a feeling that summer will end just as quickly as it will start, and sometime during this summer I plan on moving.
Away.
Far away.
At least, I'd like it to be far away
(Of course the problem with running away from yourself is that you're always there.)

13 Most Played Songs On My iTunes
EDIT: Something on this page is making the site break. I'm currently trying to figure it out. So if you don't get to see all the comments, I appologize. If you choose to comment, it may or may not go through. The autolinks feature seems to work (but I'm not sure that it isn't the culprit, either.... grrr.... End EDIT
There are usually two senarios when I'll listen to itunes. One is when I want some background music (like now, for instance.) The other time is when I'm feeling down and need to get perked up a bit. You know, jump around, let of some steam and refocus. And that's when I pick the songs I'll listen to, rather then set it to shuffle. So I present to you my 13 most played songs on my desktop itunes. (I have a feeling that my laptop's itunes is pretty close to this.)
It's actually interesting (to me, at any rate) to see these songs on the list. While I knew there'd be quite a few country songs, I really expected another Jackson Browne song in the mix. And I thought Blue Oyster Cult would have been up near the top, too. (Don't Fear the Reaper or Burning for You are often played by me.)

Song, Artist
Running on Empty, Jackson Browne
I Need a Lover, Pat Benetar
99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before), Brian McComas
On the Verge, Collin Raye
Lookin' For Love, Johnny Lee
Sweet Home Alabama, Lynyrd Synyrd
The Time Machine, Collin Raye
Callin' Batton Rouge, Garth Brooks
I Want You To Want Me (Live), Cheap Trick
A Better Man, Clint Black
Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old), Garth Brooks
Town Called Malice, The Jam
Cherokee Fiddle, Johnny Lee
It's My Life, No Doubt
Suds in the Bucket, Sara Evans
(okay, 15 today...)
