I've been wanting a new theme for this site for a while now. Actually, I was hoping to get one done just before the Hard Drive Crash of December '06. So I've been dabbling with themes, trying to get one that I like. But I haven't been happy with any I've come up with.

So in the mean time, I've uploaded an older theme (based on Lush)(based on AndreasSomeNumber) to use until I get a new one up.

Somehow I managed to get my old Dell computer working. The one that died on me in December.

I decided to 'try again' to get the blasted thing working. So this morning I plugged it in and managed to get to the screen where I had the option to start it in Safe Mode. (In December, I couldn't even get to that screen.) To I selected "Safe Mode" and a couple minutes later a system check showed up on the bottom of the screen.

I'm looking into a new forum for this site. I'm currently using mybb but want something more integrated with wordpress. Vanilla is an options, as is bbpress (which has a new release.)

So if my forums go down suddenly, I'll be setting up something different.

I was going to write to complain about the power failure I had last week.

As you may have known (it was national news) Western Washington was hit by a very powerful windstorm just over a week ago. Just about everyone lost power, including me. But my power was only down for 26 hours.

People around Puget Sound are still without power a week later.

Makes complaining about being without power for only a day seem like whining.

my dell laptop froze on me today.

This after my dell desktop's hard drive crashed.

This is really a crappy month.

At least I have my trusty iMac (knock on laminated plastic that resembles wood).

My cat Moon can't seem to understand that sitting between my keyboard and monitor doesn't work for me. I've moved him about five times, but he still gets in front of me and begins to clean himself. (No, not that part of himself. Just his side.)

I think I irritated him enough; he just jumped off the desk and went into the hall to clean himself some more.

For a bad-ass cat, he sure craves attention.

I still have more snow pics to put up here, but I'll be taking another day off of that since I have to modify them in fireworks before uploading them. I think I have about a dozen more (or less) and I'd rather chop them all up at once.

But not tonight.

I'm again in a pissy mood for no real reason. But that stupid express lane in Albertson's didn't help any.

Finally got my Gallery up and working again.

It's official. My hard drive is dead.

I took it out and put it in another computer and got the same "primary hard disk drive 0 not found" error.

And I've been in a pissy mood all day.

What I lost: All my web development files. I had a localhost webserver set up so I could check out content management systems and create themes. All gone. The new theme for this site, gone.
