On Sunday, September 16th, the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcasted on Fox. Sometime after the show airs, I'll update this page with the winners so I can see if my predictions were correct and my hopes realized. (If I find out that the technical categories were announced earlier - this year it's the week before - I'll post those earlier.)

emmy2007 - Battlestar Galactica
I've mentioned Battlestar Galactica a number of times in this series and I thought I should explain why.
When you think of Battlestar Galactica the first things that may come to mind are space ships and killer robots. And I won't argue that. The series takes place on space ships, and there are killer robots. (Albeit gorgeous human-looking robots.) But the show is so much more.

emmy2007 - Drama - Best Actress Categories
SNUB ALERT! It seems the women that were nominated didn't match up to the women I thought should have been nominated and deserving of the award (and gift basket of goodies.)
Here's what I would add to the list:
Outstanding Lead Actress:
Battlestar Galactica - Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin
Friday Night Lights - Connie Britton as Tami Taylor
Outstanding Supporting Actress:
Battlestar Galactica - Katee Sackhoff as Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace
Battlestar Galactica - Tricia Helfer as Number Six
Lost - Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet Burke
(I think I need to write on why I keep mentioning Battlestar Galactica.)
Anyway, the actual nominees are...

emmy2007 - Drama - Best Actor Categories
The Best Actor category is tough. A lot of really talented actors stepped up their game this year to give some amazing performances. It really came down to who gave the most memorable performance. And there was a lot to chose from.
The amazing performance nominees are...

emmy2007 - Drama - Writing, Directing, Outstanding
I don't know what's more surprising in the Outstanding Drama Series category, the shows that are on it, or the shows that were left out. Only one of the shows listed deserves to win (House), and another is in strong contention to win (Heroes). But the others? Come on. They might as well have had 24 nominated, too. Many of the HBO/Showtime shows deserve to be listed here, as well as Battlestar Galactica and Friday Night Lights.
So let's see who the nominees are...

emmy2007 - Comedies - Best Actress Categories
The Best Actresses. This year, there seems to be a lot of tough women nominated, mostly as supporting or guest star roles. A lot of it is a toss-up, since there were many strong performances.
So the nominees are...

emmy2007 - Comedies - Best Actor Categories
What makes a really good comedic actor/actress? Is it the ability to deliver funny lines? Or is it making a character believable in absurd circumstances? While you need both, I believe the latter is much more important.
Anyway, the nominees are...

emmy2007 - Comedies - Writing, Directing, Outstanding
I'm not a huge fan of comedies. Most of them really aren't funny. Some of them are downright painful to watch. Like The Office. Many people love this show. I can't stand it. I didn't like the British version, either. I will say the American version is slightly better, though, but still not my cup of tea. Or coffee.
Then you have My Name is Earl. That's a comedy I like. It has a point and a premise. Karma. It's absurd, but enjoyable to watch.
NBC with Scrubs and CBS with How I Met Your Mother stand a good chance of winning.
So the nominees are...

emmy2007 - Introduction
Well, it's that time again. Emmy season. The award show for television shows announced the nominees last month and, as usual, they got a lot of it wrong. Great shows and actors get snubbed while others leave you with a "what the hell?" moment. So I've written this series of posts about who I think should win and why some others shouldn't.
What I'll cover: The major categories like best drama, best comedy, leading actor/actresses, supporting actor/actresses and more.
