Gossip Girl "All About My Brother" May 5, 2008

SPOILERS

Seriously, was that whole coming out a surprise to anyone?

From the pilot episode I (and probably a lot of other people) thought that Eric was gay. Definitely not an OMG moment.

Serena's bombshell, however, did surprise me. She actually killed someone? With Georgina there to video tape it?

So if Eric tried to kill himself because he was gay and Serena ran away because she killed someone, me thinks here are some family issues that need to be dealt with in the van der Woodsen home. And adding the Bass' to the mix probably wont help.

Gossip Girl Pilot - September 19, 2007

I'll admit it. I watched the series premier of The CW's teen angst show Gossip Girl. And it wasn't half bad. (I enjoyed it much more than Fox's K-Ville - of which I could only stand about 10 minutes of.)

I'm not sure I liked it enough to keep watching it. The characters are what you'd expect in this type of show - the outsider, the bad boy, the good girl, the mysterious girl, the bitch. Their parents are the same - the washed out rocker, the bitch, the control freak dad.

Hidden Palms - More Teen Angst?

Summer TV is now upon us, and the CW is starting its summer shows with a foray into teen angst in Hidden Palms. Some (TV Guide) have dubbed it a soap opera, but I think it's just a way for the network to show skin and get ratings. It's about a group of kids in California, one being a 16 year old ex-junkie who saw his dad commit suicide.

I think the purpose of the show is to show skin. hidden palms promoMost of the promos have scantily clad young adults sitting near or in a pool.Naturally, these kids are what networks think are ideal - nice bodies, perfect abs. Not really reality, but it gets ratings. That's what TV is all about. (And I'm pretty sure that's what most people will be watching it for - and probably not for the performances. This is, after all, the CW, the network that canceled Veronica Mars.)

J'onn J'onzz in Smallville

Maybe it's just the fan-boy in me, but I thought it was pretty cool that Smallville (on the CW) will have the Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz (pronounced John Jones) in a recurring roll. TVGuide.com interview.

saving runaway?

Got an email and comment here from a Runaway fan who wanted to know how that show can be saved.

Really, it can't be. But if you're really interested in saving it, you can drop an email to the address on the bottom of this page or if you think the old fashioned letter writing campaign might work send a letter to:

Runaway - The CW's First Failure

Seems The CW is cancelling the show Runaway.

I only saw a minute or two here and there. Nothing that caught my eye. Not a show that'll be missed much.

Business Week and I agree about The CW Network

At least David Kiley does.

On January 24th I posted this entry saying how I thought CW was a stupid name for a tv network.

On January 25th, Business Week posted this entitled "CW Network Doesn't Roll Off The Tongue."

And I still agree. The CW is a stupid name for a network.
