Dancing With The Stars Fall 2008 Line-Up

Over the last couple years I've posted about how Dancing With The Stars lack a certain element - namely, stars. This year, I won't be saying that. Looking over the list, most of the 13 contestants do have star-quality in their field. The only real exception is Kim Kardashian. I have no idea why she would be considered a 'star' and be on the show. (I do have a problem with many of the self-made reality 'stars.')

So, the stars...

Lance Bass, dancing with Lacey Schwimmer from So You Think You Can Dance! I actually like that pairing

Toni Braxton (with Alec Mazo) singer sensation!

Brooke Burke (with Derek Hough). I'm not familiar with Brooke, I'm afraid.

Rocco DiSpirito (with Karina Smirnoff) - tv chef.

Maurice Green (with Cheryl Burke) - athlete (Olympian track and field.)

Kim Kardashian (with Mark Ballas) - Who? Mark is her only saving grace.

Cloris Leachman (with Corky Ballas - Mark's dad!) at 82, the oldest (and most talked about performer this season!)

Cody Linley (with Julianne Hough) - 18, actor, will get the tween vote.

Susan Lucci (with Tony Dovolani) - 61 year old star of All My Children.

Misty May-Treanor (with Maksim Chmerkovskiy) - Olympian (but not a dance profession/figure skater like Kristi last year.)

Ted McGinley (with Inna Brayer) - back-ground actor. Wasn't he the one that killed shows?

Jefferey Ross (with Edyta Sliwinska) - Comedian/Comedy Central personality.

Warren Sapp (with Kym Johnson) - football player.

Hi there,

With shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars achieving unprecedented mainstream appeal, the art of ‘dance’ has become popular, sporty, and dare we say it…trendy. Unfortunately, dance lessons don’t come cheap and for those who’d love to master the Mambo may not have the luxury to do so.

Luckily, Ballroom Dance Channel (http://www.ballroomdancechannel.com), a new online dance community catering to dance fans worldwide, provides step-by-step instructional lessons for popular dances including the Rumba, Cha Cha, Tango, Waltz and many more. Taught by Dancing With the Stars’ Tony Dovolani and other professional dance instructors, Ballroom Dance Channel will teach AND show you how to move like the pros….literally!

We’d love for you to consider Ballroom Dance Channel as a sidebar to your Dancing with the Stars coverage if possible.

If you have any questions, need additional assets, or if you’d like to speak with Tony Dovolani or the creative team behind Ballroom Dance Channel – please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have really enjoyed this program BUT it is becoming more of a popularity contest than a dancing contest. In the last couple of sessions it is getting worse. There needs to be a re-adjustment, or a complete change, in the scoring system. Cloris Leachman may be a very nice lady, BUT she is not a dancer and this is not just my opinion but also the Judges. She and her partner have received the lowest scores by the judges every night but she is still on the progam while contestants that have danced better have been sent home. If this is really a dancing contest then it is truely unfair to those couples that have been sent home while she and her partner continue on.
I feel that you need to change the point system before you loose your viewing audiance. If it continues as is I will find another program to watch.

Cloris is a hoot to watch, but doesn't have what it takes to win - talent.

I haven't followed this years show closely so I'm not sure who's gone home already, but whoever they were, it seemed to be the right call. Cloris and Rocky/Rocko/Whoever and possibly Codey (the one one) will be out soon, then Lance if he keeps heading downhill. Then the competition will really heat up.

I think it's the Sanjaya effect - you keep the bad but fun one around for a few weeks, then you get tired of them and send them home. Cloris' time will come.
