Khandi Alexander Leaving CSI:Miami - and we all say, eh...

Khandi Alexander leaving CSI:Miami?

khandiI'm not a CSI:Whatever fan. Especially Miami. The original is okay, and I haven't seen enough of CSI:New York to have an opinion one way or the other, but Miami, although one of the most popular shows on TV these days, just sucks.

Instead of focusing on the crime, more time is spent of graphics and special effects than, say, acting. You know, there's only so many ways a man can take off sunglasses. And give one liners. And Miami has done them all.

But Khandi, after the stopped talking to dead people, was fun to watch. Sure, she didn't have as much screen time as the others, but she made the most of what she had. And her character felt more real. (Although I do have to admit I prefer Ducky over on NCIS as a medical examiner.)

Will this make a difference to the show? Probably not. It's an escapist series. You don't have to do a lot of thinking when watching it. (Also on TV Guide, one of the columnists said to watch CSI:Miami as a comedy; and he's right.) Lost requires thinking and a whole lot of energy. Miami doesn't. And I guess that's one of the draws.

(It's actually surprising more people haven't left the show - most of the core cast has been there from the beginning.)

Anyone that'll miss Dr. Woods? Khandi? Think this will hurt Miami?

I think it is unfortunate 2 CSI shows are loosing the african american presence. As much as we dont like to look at it, for african americans it is good to see us on air in main roles.

Prettty soon there will be nothing left for me to watch on network tv. What a waste. It took me sometime to adjust to her talking to the dead but with the lack of screen time she did the best she could with what she had.
I will miss her and CSI as I will not watch the show any longer

...but I won't stop watching CSI Miami. I think they've had some decent stories and the acting is there. Yes, maybe you don't have to think too much when you watch it, but isn't that the best thing? Watch and be entertained. I love watching the stories unfold on all 3 CSIs. I'm looking forward to seeing who the new guy is.

It is not quite clear WHY she left the show. Ausellio from TVGuide hints that the "goodbye" has been less thna amicably - whatever that means
