RadiantBoard - Not Revolutionary

I feel so deceived. Dirty deceived, even.

I few weeks ago I heard about a new forum system called RadiantBoard. It was promised to be 'revolutionary' which to me means setting a new standard.

So after some waiting, RadiantBoard went live.

And it was a huge disappointment.

The 'revolutionary' part was supposedly all the ajax goodness - inline editing, show/hide onclicks, etc. But what Nameless, the handle of the developer on TheAdminZone didn't quite know was that adding ajax doesn't make anything revolutionary, especially message boards.

So it wasn't the revolution that was promised. But as a site and system, RadiantBoard did look nice. Nice like every other BB out there. Since I'm not a coder, I had to trust others to look 'under the hood.' And two people did (Dietrich and Tikitiki, two people I've seen around online and trust.) And RadiantBoard might actually be a step back from other systems. (When told about these problems, NameLess says wait for 1.5! Yeah, I'll be holding my breath.)

Bottom line: it's like any other system out there. In fact, I'd recommend using any other system that has a good user base with active development. MYBB, USEBB, SMF, or even PHPBB. Sure, those aren't revolutionary, but neither is RadiantBoard. Nor will it be.

And remember, ajax doesn't make a system revolutionary. It just makes things easier to neater to look at.
