fuzzylime cms and forum

fuzzylime logoJust discovered fuzzylime CMS, formerly called PHP-Update. It's designed as a full featured Content Management System, with blogs and image galleries and polls and mailing lists. Unfortunately, they don't have a features page that lists what it can do.

The forum, however, is a separate system from the portal. You can find out more about the fuzzylime forum here

The forums do need a lot of work to be more user-friendly. forum blankI was greeted by a bunch of blank lines where the content or some form of greeting should be. That's not really inviting.

Hi,

I'm the guy behind these scripts and just Googled their name to see what came up Smiling

You might be interested to know that I'm planning a much more welcoming screen for the forum for the next release - with details on the latest posts and so on. Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, really!

And a full list of features for the CMS would be a good idea... I'll put one together for the site soon as well.

You might have noticed that both are the first releases of the scripts... so hopefully little issues like this will be ironed out soon!

If you have any other thoughts or comments, feel free to get in touch with me.

I spend a bit of time in the CMS world - playing with them, checking things out, but not building them... I can't code myslef out of a box. Into a box, yes, but not out of Smiling

I hope I didn't come off as too critical. (A little critical, yes, but not too...) The features page is something that I think all systems should have, and I'm glad you agree about the welcoming screen on the forum. (Although, honestly, that three-paned view doesn't do anything for me... I guess I'm a traditionalist when it comes to forums.)

There are a lot of CMS packages out there. You know that, I know that. You might want to come up with a page about how it can be used. Some systems call it recipes. Basically, tell how it can be used (as opposed to the features page, which would tell what it is.)

If I remember the old Php-Update site correctly, the fuzzylime site is a big step forward.

Good luck!

I use fuzzylime, and its is pretty damned good - its far better than most of the others for my web design clients (who are not always fully PC literate)

The forum is a bit 'individual' though - not really a good thing as most people are 'forum literate' with the style of the well known forum software like VBulletin, phpbb etc
