13 books in a box
Along a wall I have stacks of boxes. Each box contains bit of my past. Most of it I really should get rid of. Anyway, I opened one box today and found some books. I actually happened to find 13 books. Some of these books were from college; some I even read.

- Hole in the Sky by William Kittredge. Read this for my college class "The New West."
- The World's Relgions by Huston Smith. A classic in the study of religions.
- The Tattooed Lady in the Garden by Pattiann Rogers. Poetry collection. Didn't understand most of it back when I first read it.
- O'Connor Collected Works (Flannery O'Connor. A Library of America Collection (the black dustjacket with the red, white a blue stripe).
- The Best Loved Poems of the American People. (The only publication date is 1936.)
- Mostly Harmless by Douglass Adams. (yes, one of these books is not like the others....)

- A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.
- The Norton Anthology of English Literature (5th Edition).
- The Book of Mormon. (With a Washington State Lottery Card bookmark.... hmmmm...)
- All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy (book was better than the movie).
- The Crossing, Cormac McCarthy (yeah, I like McCarthy's work).
- Writing Research Papers: A Complete Guide by James D. Lester.
- Usagi Yojimbo Book One, Stan Sakai. (About a Samuri Rabbit. This one wasn't required reading in college... for some strange reason....)

do you mind if I repent in the morning... it's late, you know, and I'm kinda, sorta, in the usually sleepy way, well, sleepy. I'm so sleepy I may even be making an inkling of sense.

Hmmm . . . I haven't read a single one of those books. What are the chances that you'd find exactly 13 books?

Ah yes, boxes and books, what to keep, what to get rid of! Actually I only have two books left. Donated them to libraries or gave them to my kids. Only owned one on your list. My TT is here: http://www.alyceclover.blogspot.com if you care to visit.

Hmmm...as I look around, I don't see any evidence of repentance. I can only hope you're down on your knees, that your whistle is wet and your mouth is moving.

@cat: Gee, cat, what kind of church do you go to???
@Francesca Gray: thanks.
@Kailani: it was weird finding 13. My brain is now attuned to 13 for some reason!
@K T Cat: Usagi is a graphic novel. I actually haven't read it yet.
@nat: I was actually trying to find my copy of War and Peace. But I have another McCarthy book (Blood Meridian) on my bed.
@carmen: Eclectic is my middle name! (well, it isn't, but should be!)
@mary: I used to have a lot more books, but did get rid of many of them before my last move. Now, did I get rid of War and Peace....
@Kelly: people's reading habbits are what makes us unique and interesting!
@angela: We'd never bump into each other in Barnes and Noble....
@dawn: so what's the other book you recongnize?
@Scouser: Adams was a man who died too young.
@cat: No, really? What church? The confessional must be an interesting place!
