Washington State Senate Bill 1515

Misguided News Service April 22, 2005, Olympia, WA
In a stunning move, the Washington State legislature made it legal for people who believe that the white race is superior to discriminate against minorities in housing, employment and insurance.

Any person in a minority category, be they black, Latino, Asian, or any other race that a person finds "below them" can be fired or refused employment, evicted or denied housing, or have their insurance terminated.
The bill passed the Senate by one vote.
Okay, the above was made up. Here's the real story:
The Washington State Senate, by one vote, made it legal to continue to discriminate against homosexuals in employment, housing or insurance.
If you're gay in Washington State, you don't have the same legal rights as heterosexuals.

As shocking as this is, what's more shocking (or abysmal) is what was said by some of the senators who voted against the bill:
Two Democrats, Jim Hargrove of Hoquiam and Tim Sheldon of Potlatch, joined 22 Republicans in defeating the bill 25-24.
"I believe adultery is wrong, I believe sex outside marriage is wrong, I believe homosexuality is wrong. Therefore, I cannot give government protection to this behavior," Hargrove said. Source
"I was very conflicted on this bill," said Finkbeiner, a former Democrat who actually supported the bill once before when he was a House member. "I don't think there's anything wrong with being gay."
He said he opposes discrimination but voted against the bill for two main reasons: because he thought it could interfere with the current Supreme Court case on gay marriage, and because he is the leader of the Senate Republican caucus.
"To me," he said, "this isn't a rights issue." Source (ibid)
Who voted for discrimination?

I think if God wanted 2 men to marry each other he would have made the colon a reproductive organ, but he didn't. To continue the human race we need to have a man with a woman, period! If you want to debate it go to RiledUp. They're in the middle of a heated debate right now.

There's no way a logic argument can be made for this topic. If you're religious then your most likely (but not always) on the side that it's wrong no matter what because god says so.

On the other side of the argument is that allowing gay marriage wont hurt anyone. Not even christians. You might think it will, but it wont. (That's fear the religious leaders are trying to foster.)

And don't give me the "if two men marry then a man could marry a goat" stupid argument.

Goats can't sign legal documents.

Where did I say anything about a man marrying a goat?

I said it takes a man and a woman to continue the human race. That's just how it works.

2 men can't create a child together. Marriage is for procreation.

2 men can live together but marriage is for a man and a woman.

So if gay marriage is allowed, do you believe that every man in this country would marry another man (and every woman another woman)? 100% of them? Is that what happened in Canada or Europe? It's ludicrous to think that.

I think it was Jon Stewart (but I could be wrong) that said that gay marriage is an option, not a requirement.

Marriage isn't just about sharing a life together, it's also about sharing resources. That's why marriages have those 'perks.' And if gay marriage is the only way for a gay couple to get the same rights (inheritance, insurance, hospital visitation, legal) then why not? Again, it doesn't affect any straight couple.

I mentioned the goat because that's where it usually leads. That, or I listened to too many radio talk shows.

(and by linking to the riled up site, my spam filter thinks this is spam.)

I think that marriage and insurance rights go hand in hand. Although some may marry in order to reap the benefits of insurance, this is not the majority. In a study, it was determined that one in fifteen individuals get married in order to obtain health insurance benefits . When viewed in the grand scheme of things, this number is not that large.

Gay marriage is ok but should not make it too liberal.

I don't know why gay marriage is such a big topic. It's two people getting married! That's all!

If a same sex couple get married, then it wouldn't hurt you. We are continuing the human race. Not everyone is a homosexual. Not everyone is the same. They chose.I know your choice, so let other people make their decision.

Wenacthee, if you don't think gays were around in biblical times, they you really should read it. (Good gawd, did I just say that?) Okay, research it.

Or just read the Sodom and Gomorrah part. They're there. And treated worse than today. (Of course, women were treated worse then than today.)
