the "Euro-Afro Asian Sweepstake/ELECTRONIC EMAIL lottery" scam
I don't normally post about the spam I get in my email (I don't usually read them, either) but I loved this one.
I love the fact that instead of just a simple lottery, the spammer just put everything in the email. It's not just European, but Asian, too.
And since it's a Nigerian scam, we can add Africa to that list. (Poor South America... they seem to be left out here.)
And it's sponsored by Bill Gates. Bill Gates! Then it must be true! And the Sultan of Brunei? Say it's not so! (I'm not sure who this Sultan guy is, but he must be one swell guy.
And the purpose of the lottery? To promote the use of computers and the internet all over the world!
And all this time I thought Bill Gates was trying to fund curing AIDS and helping starving/malnourished children around this planet.
But wait, if everyone on this planet, no matter how poor, had a computer and internet access Bill can sponsor more Lotteries like this one and get more people to give scammers money! It's a win/win!
And what did I win?
".Your e-mail address ...won you the lottery in
the 3rd category. You have therefore been approved to claim a total sum
of £500.000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand pounds sterling) "
Wow. Isn't that like almost a million US? I'd be one-one-thousandth as rich as Bill Gates!
(Yes, sarcasm rules this post.)
Anyway, here's part of the text of the email. With spammer's email address. And if you've done any looking into these scams (419's and the like) you'll know that the phone codes are used by these poor excuses for humanity.
"Please note that your lucky winning number falls within our European
booklet representative office in London. In view of this, your
£500.000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand pounds sterling) would be released
to you by our affiliate bank in Europe. This promotion takes place
annually and it is sponsored by Sultan of Brunei , Bill Gates of
Microsoft and his associates toencourage the use of internet and
computers world wide. Our agent will immediately

EMAIL lottery scams
Any email which promises you a prize in a game you have not entered is usually a scam. Sometimes they will use the Silver Lotto website or another lottery site as an authority, or use my name in emails.
I never advise any of my clients that they have won a prize, and have never seen an authorized website do this.
My suggestion is not to reply to the email and delete it immediately.

Amazing
It is amazing how some people fall for these emails. However, I must say that some of the scams lately are looking a bit more believable to the average Joe. If Bill is backing it, it must be true?!

Sounds too good to be true?
If you receive an email stating that you have won a huge amount of money in a lottery, just ask yourself one question. Did I actually enter this lottery? If you didn't then there is of course absolutely no way that you could be winning it. Just think a little! Also remember, "if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true".

I totally agree with the above points, these people are scum, but on the odd occassion that I have received one of their mails I find it amusing to mail them back and string them along for as long as possible. If they have time to waste by doing this kind of crap then I'm sure going to help them waste their sad little lives. What a group of morons they really are

LOTTERY "SCAM"
I just received an e-mail from Euro-Afro Asia Sweeptakes lottery that i won 250,000 US dollar. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! huge amount. I don't need to continue my contract as an OFW anymore. I will pack my things right away and live a good life in my country once i get my winning prize.
But too bad Ms Coordinator..i will not beleive this kind of technique of collecting money. I am not new to this kind of scam. It happened to me frequently mostly in my mobile.
Everyday i won huge amount. To those who experienced this kind of scam think a thousand times. Ask yourself..search your web...to avoid falling the trap.
For you Ms. Coordinator..HAVE A HEART. Change a new leaf. STOP doing EVIL work because you don't know if tomorrow you can see the LIGHT. GOD BLESS YOU.
