Journeyman was a show that I thought would have been canceled early in its life. In fact, I believe that it would have been if there wasn't any threat of a writers strike. It's a confusing time-travel story starring Kevin McKidd as reporter/unsuspecting time-traveler Dan Vassar. The first few episodes (what I caught of them) were a confused mess. As with any intricately plotted story, few answers were given. But I've been watching this show more an more over the last few weeks and I have to say I'm enjoying it more and more.
But will it be canceled? NBC hasn't ordered the last nine or so scripts to end out the season but (according to Aint It Cool News) NBC will air the final three episodes produced on Monday December 10th (the 10th episode), Monday December 17th (the 11th episode) and then on Wednesday December 19th they'll have the 12th episode. And it may even answer some questions.
I can understand why it's having trouble in the ratings. It's not getting viewers from its lead-in, Heroes. (Bionic Woman would have been a better lead in.) And it's in the Monday at 10pm Deathslot against CSI: Miami. Perhaps it would have done better Wednesday at 9pm (Bionic Woman's slot) up against Private Practice. But one can arm-chair quarterback all he wants - the truth may be that there's no good time for this show. Maybe it should live on on the Sci-Fi channel.
Whatever the future holds (no pun intended) it's been an interesting ride. I'm not too involved in it, so I personally won't be too heartbroken if it doesn't show up in the Winter schedule. But I think it has potential to continue. And maybe it should.
