There's nothing like consistency is there?

Last week I printed out an 'exercise' calendar that's pinned to the wall in my office. On it I simply mark the days I do some sort of exercise (I simply code it with a W for a walk, A for abs workout, and S for strength workout - about 20-30 minutes to earn a letter for that day.) I'm looking at last week now and everyday but Sunday - my 'day off' - has a letter or two. Great motivation for me.

I also wrote up my goal weights and belly measurements for the year - a pound a week and a quarter inch a week - and planned it out for the next two months. (about 9 Saturdays 'till the new year!) If all goes according to plan, I should be at my high school weight by December 29. (If not, I should at least be close!)

I really want an 'exercise' push in November. I've got a good handle on the foods I eat, but exercise has been tough. (Thus, the calendar.) The biggest deterrent for me is rain. And living in Western Washington in November, well, you get the idea.

But I drive by soccer/football fields and see kids playing in the rain. They're training for a sport; I'm training for my health and well-being (and confidence, and pride.) If they can spend an hour or two in the rain running around, why can't I walk in the rain for 30 minutes?

(Last January I took my dad to a hospital in Seattle for a colonoscopy and since I had time to spend, I went for a walk in the snow. If I can do that, half an hour in the rain is nothing.)

And this past week my dad went into the emergency room. He had trouble urinating and they had to drain him. (He's been seeing a urologist for a while.) Added motivation to take better care of myself. Then my mom went to the ER for 'acute bronchitis.' Tough week here.
