I've had a bad week. I know, the last set of numbers above are going in the right direction. But the whole week was... off. With family issues and time issues and everything else that life threw my way, I just didn't put what I know to do to be healthy in action.
I have to realize that a bad week or day for me isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things. It's not like on a bad day I'll go out and eat a chocolate cake or down a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi, or go hog-wild with a grande hazelnut mocha at Starbucks. Truth is, I have no desire for candy bars or soda pop or a cappuccino. The attachment isn't there. (I do plan on going to Starbucks this December for a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yes, I'm planning that far ahead.)
For me, it was a bad week for two reasons: (1) I didn't exercise. I did walk for 30 minutes two days this past week though. and (2) I didn't eat enough.
I've been pretty good about healthy snacking during the day in addition to my meals. But I found myself waiting until I was famished - stomach growling hungy - before I'd eat something. I know that my body is like a furnace and to keep it running, it needs energy. Three large meals a day isn't as effective as three decent meals and three decent snacks. And I didn't get that this week. I may resort to planning out some meals. Or at least making sure I have snacks handy - whether that means pre-bagging some rice crackers (good tasting ones, too, I might add) or cutting up carrots and celery ahead of time - just to make sure I have something to snack on.
Thankfully, the numbers above are like a pop quiz instead of a final exam. And I should get down to a 32" waist around Thanksgiving. After which, it may take me a week or two to get back down to a 32" waist again!
(It's that damn stuffing that'll be my undoing!)
Today (Saturday) I had lunch with my mom at a restaurant. I ordered a teriyaki chicken burger and French fries. This was my cheat meal for the week. I ended up eating about half the fries they gave me, and I avoided most of the chicken bun. I'm sure the teriyaki sauce wasn't the best thing for me, but it did taste good.
So next week I hope to get back on track.
