Dancing With the Stars Is Missing the Stars

Last year I watched most of ABC's Dancing With the Stars for one reason: Sara Evans. It was the first year I watched it, and nothing else about the show interested me. (Well, Jerry Springer was a hoot to watch.)

This year, there are no Stars on that show that make me want to tune in. The only one that comes close is John Ratzenberger who played Cliff Clavin on Cheers. Other than that, I have no reason to watch. So instead I'll be watching reruns of Battlestar Galactica on CityTV (Vancouver) and maybe 24.

(Now if Ratzenberger would dance as the Cliff Clavin character, that would make it worth watching.)

I've got my TV Guide open to the list of contestants. Celebrities? For the most part, no.

So who have we got?

Billy Ray Cyrus, Country Music singer who disappeared after the Achy Breaky Heart fiasco.

Heather Mills, soon-to-be-ex Mr. Paul McCartney. Sure she has an artificial leg, but Star status? Come on.

Apolo Anton Ohno, from Washington, Olympic Short Track Speed Skater Gold Medalist. Does he still have that soul patch?

Joey Fatone, former 'N Sync-er. Who was that guy from last year that was in a boy band... I can't even remember.

Ian Ziering. Who? Oh, Beverly Hills 90210 star. Never heard of him.

Shandi Finnessey. Again, who? Miss USA 2004? I guess they really do still have the Miss USA pagents.

Paulina Porizkova. Once again, who the hell is that? A supermodel. Yeah.

(See where I"m going with this?)

Laila Ali. As the daughter of Muhammad Ali and an undefeated super middleweight boxing champ, she could beat the crap out of me. But I didn't know she existed 'till this week. Sorry.

Leeza Gibbons, Entertainment Tonight and Extra diva. I'd call her a celebrity since I actually knew who she was.

John Ratzenberger, as mentioned above, from Cheers. Celebrity.

There you have it. A lot of reasons I'm not watching this years Dancing With the Stars.

Agree or Disagree with my assesments?

[...] this year I wrote about how Dancing With the Stars was missing actual… stars. And I still stand behind that [...]
