30 Pieces of Silver, Please

I found this disturbing.

A week or so ago I visited the House MD page at fox.com and saw the poll asking if people understood what Wilson said at the end of a recent episode. The scene had Wilson going up to the cop that's investigating House on drug/narcotic charges and pretty much turning his best friend over the cops.

As Wilson walks in he says (to the effect of) "Do I get 30 pieces of silver."

And half of the people who responded to the poll didn't know what that meant.

Maybe we should start teaching the Bible in schools. Not religiously, mind you. But as literature. (Maybe with the Tao Te Ching and the Koran and the complete works of Douglas Adams.)

If you're a long time reader here, you know I'm not religious. But I do believe in education. And part of education is knowing about religions. All of them. (Well, at least the big four or five.)

Then again, I say this having never read the Koran. Like most Americans I'd wager.

Anyway, Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. And Wilson is betraying House. And House has a Christ complex, so it fits.
