You can say what you want about Permission this Permission that. Lets see it shows that he does not really have any talent when He has to go and RIP OFF a song. That was not a sampling. It would be like someone taking a song from metallica, putting a voice over on it and mixing it up some and then saying it was their work. Kanye is just trying to take hype from an already GLOBAL phenomenon that is Daft Punk. They have played from the US to Russia and all over the world. There sure are a lot of misguided thoughts in these comments. If any you had done a second's worth of research, you would have found out that Daft Punk gave kanYe the rights to sample their song. They were even in the music video! Does anyone even mention Evel Knievel anymore? He should be flattered by the publicity that he gets from the Touch the Sky video. I'd like to see any of you do something as relevant as Jesus Walks, as soulful as Family Business, or as inspirational as Big Brother...

I take it that most of you guys are not fans of hip hop. The origins of hip hop was based on sampling music. I am 100% sure that Kanye West got permission from Daft Punk to sample their music. From the looks of it, you guys probably aren't even aware that Daft Punk samples ALL of their songs (don't get me wrong, I love Daft Punk). I do agree that Kanye took it over the top at the awards show, but hey...we're all human...we lose it sometimes. Let's say you bust your ass off at work and you don't get acknowledged for it...same shiz.

Only people who want to suck Kanye's salty balls would say he didn't get permission. He is a no talent F*CK who sampled Daft Punk WITHOUT permission. It is legal to sample (I think it is around 2%) of a song without it being concidered stolen. Obviously he sampled, otherwise he wouldnt use the same 4 seconds of Daft Punk over and over again (he would have probably just played their entire song and claimed it is). He is a LOSER and has to piggy back off the talent of others to try and make a name for himself, I liked his song "Stronger" for the first 3 seconds until I heard that losers voice. He is ruining the good name that is Daft Punk.

Kanye West claims that Bush is racist because of Hurricane Katrina. Ah, yes, the bliss of ignorance. Never mind that 1) A 100+ mile swath along the gulf coast is destroyed- including bridges, roads, and debris everywhere, making it hard to get through. 2) FEMA and local agencies massively underestimated the storm. 3) Local agencies have really dropped the ball, including mayor and governor of the state. (Where's our help? Wah! Bush wants thousands of people to die because they're black! Wah! I can't get off my own dead ass and do something because Bush hates me! Wah!) Compare New Orleans mayor (whining) with Rudy Giuliani after 9/11- down in the streets taking charge, getting stuff done, etc. Please quit ripping on Bush. Blame for the problems in New Orleans can we spread far and wide. Lots of people can be blamed, not just W. Also realize that the truth of the matter is that this disaster is SO overwhelming that the truth of the matter is that we're lucky help got there as quickly as it did, not the reverse. What do you expect, Kanye West? You think the government is going to analyze the problem, assemble the supplies, drive over destroyed roads into an AREA WITH NO COMMUNICATIONS, filled with ass hole looters who shoot at rescue helicopters, and all this is going to get done six hours after one of the worst natural disasters in our nation's history? Music sampling is not that big of a deal. Well, I'm pretty young so I'm usually clueless to who the original creators of a sampled piece are. But what I can say is that there are many great artists/producers who samples music such as Daft Punk, 9th Wonder, Nujabes, DJ Shadow, DJ Qbert, Rakim and Eric B., Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas, and a bunch more!
I think that sampling music is a great way to get recognition for the old music artists because many young folks, like me, will look up the original artists of the sampled song to find out more about where the amazing sampling came from
