So I just saw the premier of Fox's new thriller/drama Vanished. I thought it was good. Really, nothing amazing about it.
The series is about a senator's wife who gets kidnapped. But, as in most tv, it's more complicated than that. She had gone missing 12 years before; but that was covered up. She's pregnant, but can't have children. And she may not even be Sara Collins.
As with all premiers of this type of show (ongoing show with one basic A plot throughout the series) a lot of information (and red herrings) were giving out. Some of it was intriguing such as the religious connection (which may not be religious) and the FBI agent's mistake 6 months earlier when a child was blown up. Other's just.... eh. (The daughter's boyfriend with the bloody shirt - not the guy that kidnapped the senator's wife: too much blood. So who's blood is it?)
I really think that the premier should have been 2 hours with more information and clues.
Will I watch it again? Probably. I may give it a week or two more. But I think this show might be better viewed on DVD. But somehow I doubt that this show will make it to season two. I wouldn't be too surprised if it doesn't make it to mid-season.
(Oh, and don't even get me started on Gale Harold... Can't that guy get more than one or two emotions going... ever? Not my choice for a leading roll actor.)
