Life is but a whisper

Funny how a TV show about death can inspire you in life.

I finished watching season five of Six Feet Under and it really gave me a kick in the gut about my life. I've tended to spend most of life lately not living, but rather existing. I'm here, but not in the way I want to be. I'm not doing what I want, but doing what I'm expected to do. And that's not fun.

The final scene in the series has Claire driving off to New York. No job, no nothing. She's embracing life.

And that's what I need to do.

And will do.

Hmmm... sooner or later you gotta die, and it's always a bad feeling when you realize in all your life you never lived. Sometimes you feel a base jumper has so much more of a life than the regular businessman. Well, what I think is, you've been given one life. Don't waste it trying to look normal in other people's eyes. You'll end up catching the train to office each day of your life instead of being in that state of life where you wake up each day in a new place of the world, and haven't the foggiest idea what tomorrow is going to be like. That's life, yeah, and not existence.

Yes, man, hope you do. All we have is now. Future is uncertain and past is gone. Live up the most the moment right now, make it happy now and don't wait for tomorrow. Our lives are now. Neither tomorrow nor yesterday.
